It only takes one to change your entire life. Your days are different and your nights are busier. Your goals have meaning and your spare time is sparse. Patience increases and you feel love at levels that you have never dreamed.
Many of us set out to give our children the lives we never had. We aspire for them to have the best education. The best clothes. Superior healthcare and rich experiences. Many of our aspirations are to give our children everything we never had.
My husband and I purpose to give Cheyenne what we do have.
We have time. We have advice and forgiveness. We have patience and creativity. We have love and guidance. Discipline and adventure.
Most importantly, we have a personal relationships with Christ. Not one that was passed down. One we built through confession and profession. We can’t give this to Cheyenne. I wish we could wrap this up in festive paper and slap a pretty bow on it. But we can give her our example.
Cheyenne can watch imperfect parents pray, love, honor, respect, forgive, help, worship and live in transparency. She can see our challenges and watch as we give them over to our Savior and try again.
We don’t know what path she will choose, though we pray daily that she will choose Christ. But we will live Galatians 5:22-23 outloud every day for our sake, and hers.
